Technical Qualities<\/span><\/strong>
\nPITTURA ALLA CALCE by OIKOS is a mineral, water based paint for exterior, formulated with mature lime putty that gives a smooth and matt finish. It is ideal for the restoration of prestigious buildings of historical importance where the ancient style and materials of the Italian tradition have to be maintained or proposed. The product creates a stable link with the surface, maintaining the level of vapour permeability of the support facilitating the evaporation of internal humidity. Thanks to its high level of alkalinity, PITTURA ALLA CALCE has a bacteriostatic action which inhibits the growth of mould and bacteria. It confers to the wall a warm appearance with tones of colour typical of the ancient decorations made with lime products. PITTURA ALLA CALCE has a low odour level, is non inflammable and is friendly to both humans and the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Surface Preparation<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe surface must be dry and mature, new plasters should be left to mature for at least 30 days to allow complete carbonation of the support. Carefully brush or strip the surfaces and remove loose and flaking material. In case of restoration work, water infiltrations and leakages must be repaired. For the best results, it is recommended to apply the product directly on lime plasters or on existing coatings of lime paint once they have been carefully washed and brushed cleane. Only if really necessary, CONSOLIDANTE PER CALCE correctly diluted, can be used to consolidate very absorbent or powdering surfaces. The surfaces shall be even, if necessary screed the walls with RASATURA\u00a0 ALLA CALCE.<\/span><\/p>\n

Application Method<\/span><\/strong>
\nApply by brush: first coat diluted 20-25% with drinkable water; second coat, after approximately 4 hours, diluted 25-30% with drinkable water;<\/span><\/p>\n

Protect the surface from rain during at least the first 24-48 hours after application.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finishes and protective coatings<\/span><\/strong>
\nTo make the surface more water-repellant it is possible to apply the protective coating SUPERFINISH24 after at least 24-48 hours from the end of application (in perfect environmental conditions). Due to the specific nature of lime and its sensitivity, for shades from medium to intense, the shade tonality could be emphasized without anyway altering the typical opacity of lime-based products. The application of excessive quantities can change the opacity,<\/span><\/p>\n

Safety Information<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe product is free of heavy metals such as lead or chrome. It does not contain toxic solvents, aromatics or chlorides. There is no risk of any dangerous polymerisation. The product is classified as hazardous and supplements. For further information see the product Safety Data Sheet. No special arrangements are required for the storage, movement and transportation of the product; the containers, residue, eventual spilt material should be cleaned up using absorbent inert material such as sand, soil etc. and then disposed of in accordance with the regional and national regulations in force at that time. Transportation must be carried out in accordance with international agreements.<\/span><\/p>\n
