MARMOCRET-SP is a pre-mixed restoration render, particularly resistant to salts and moisture. Due to its composition, it allows the renovation and protection of moisture-attacked and salt-damaged masonries, offering:
- Excellent vapor permeability of the construction.
- Stable standardized properties.
- Suitability for indoor and outdoor applications.
- Simplified and accelerated application.
- Crack prevention unlike ordinary cement-lime renders.
- Simplified application on site (as it only needs water).
MARMOCRET-SP is particularly suitable for buildings near the sea or areas exposed to rising damp. Also appropriate for spaces with high humidity, such as bathrooms, basements, etc.
Substrate preparation
Remove the old render, paint or any waterproofing materials that have been applied on the surface totally or within a distance of at least 80 cm from the area that has been damaged from salts or moisture.
a) Masonry:
Remove old masonry joints to a depth of 2cm and clean the surface mechanically.
b) Concrete:
The surface must be mechanically treated in order to become open-pored.
The surface must be load bearing and free from any substrates or loose particles which can minimize the adhesion of MARMOCRET-SP. The mortar MARMOCRET-BOND is used to create the bonding spatterdash, in order to enhance adhesion of MARMOCRET-SP to the surface. AQUAMAT-F is used to create a horizontal barrier against the rising moisture, at the base of walls.
Application
MARMOCRET-SP is added into water under continuous stirring, until a mortar of the required workability is formed. The render is applied by hand, using a float, trowel, or rendering machine to a thickness of at least 1.5 cm. The render is then treated with a wooden float, after it has suffficiently set. The treatment of the render is necessary in order to achieve an open porous surface and ensure optimal vapor diffusion from the surface. The working time depends on the substrate absorptivity, the ambient temperature and the mortar workability.
