Technical Qualities
SILKOS Torino by OIKOS is an exterior paint based on acrylic-siloxanic resins. The product has exceptional resistance to chemical and atmospheric agents, maintaining the vapour permeability of the surface. It has a high level of water repellence that helps prevent the formation of mould and algae. The product can be used as a finish on all types of wall surface, high diffusion and de-humidifying plasters, it is also suitable for use on thermal insulation systems. In case a better prevention against algae and mould is needed we suggest the addition of the specific sanitizing product STERYPLUS. SILKOS TORINO has a Low Environmental Impact and is friendly to both humans and the environment.
Ideal Use
Exterior walls, facades, cement conglomerates and particularly suitable for use on high diffusion and de-humidifying plasters and exterior thermal insulation systems.
Surface Preparation
Surfaces should be dry and fully mature. New plasters should have matured for at least 30 days to allow the complete carbonation of the support. Carefully brush or strip the surface removing all loose or flaking material. If it is a restoration project, water infiltrations or leaks must be fully repaired. Apply the indicated sealer NEOKRYLL or BLANKOR by OIKOS for all the types of surfaces mentioned above or DECORSIL PRIMER or DECORSIL PRIMER PIGMENTATO by OIKOS for high diffusion or de-humidifying plasters. Wait 8-10 hours before applying finish products.
Application Method
Using a brush or roller, apply two coats of SILKOS TORINO by OIKOS diluted 15-20% with drinkable water. Wait 6 hours between coats.
Finish
To give walls a wash effect, it is possible, on fully dry surfaces, to apply a coat of VELDECOR by OIKOS.
Safety Information
The product is free of heavy metals such as lead or chrome. It does not contain toxic solvents, aromatics or chlorides. There is no risk of any dangerous polymerisation. The product is considered to be a non-dangerous substance if used in the technically correct manner. Normal cautionary measures for the handling of water based paints are advised. No special arrangements are required for the storage and movement of the product; the containers, residue, eventual spilt material should be cleaned up using absorbent inert material such as sand, soil etc. and then disposed of in accordance with the regional and national regulations in force at that time. Transportation must be carried out in accordance with international agreements.
Specifications
Clean the surface to be painted and remove any loose or flaking material. New surfaces must be dry and thoroughly mature. In the case of restoration projects, water infiltrations and leakages must be fully repaired. Wait till the wall is fully dry then apply a primer such as DECORSIL PRIMER PIGMENTATO or DECORSIL PRIMER by OIKOS. After 12 hours apply a facade paint composed of acrylic-siloxanic resins, with low water absorption: 0,077 kg/m2/(t*1/2) (UNI EN 1062-3:2001), high vapour permeability: 0,016 m (UNI EN ISO 7783-2:2001) such as SILKOS TORINO by OIKOS. All must be carried out in accordance with the norms of application.
